I remember the evening well. I was very pregnant with Harry, and Travis and I had gone out for one of our last baby-free evenings to a Ben Folds concert (my favorite!). It was absolutely freezing outside while we were waiting to get inside the venue, and even though the weather was kind of nasty, downtown was still active with concertgoers and crazy people out celebrating St. Patrick's Day. And then there were other strange beings milling around...little tiny folks with their moms and dads all decked out in their finest Elmo gear. It turns out that there was a Sesame Street Live event going on in the same place we were going. That was when Trav caught the bug. Ever since then, he has wanted so badly to take our little guy to an Elmo concert. Then we get a postcard in the mail last week about "Elmo Makes Music" coming to town and there was no denying either of them tickets to this much awaited show! Harry was carrying aroung the postcard like it was gold and Travis got online that evening to order our tickets for opening night (March 27th). If we read the seating chart right, we got 6th row. For a Sesame Street concert. For a not-even-two year old. I hope he likes it! It will be a good chance to take Harry out without baby brother and show him some special attention. However, I'm still a little skeptical that he will be able to sit through a show. We'll see...either way it will be an adventure!
Nesting has kicked into full gear around our house lately. Harry's new room is almost complete except for some curtains, some decor for the walls, and his clothes. Oh yeah, and we still have to try to let him sleep in his new bed sometime. We took him in there when we were done and showed him around. He was excited for whatever reason and had the best time climbing up on the bed and of course, standing on it. I forsee several sleeples nights in our house coming up. My last available procrastination is that we don't have gates on our stairs yet, so I don't want to put him in the new room until they are up in case he figures out how to open the door and get out/fall down the stairs in the dark. I have looked everywhere for gates, but our staircase is weird and the commercially made ones won't work with out some major modifications and we definitely aren't the handy types that can do that. So, our contractor that we love so much is coming over this week to check it out and see if he can just make us some. We are also going to see about putting up some tile in the kitchen and making a kitty cat access to the laundry room where their litter box is so we can keep the door shut. Thank goodness that our appointment with the accountant is this week so we will be getting our tax refund soon!! Next up, I plan to go through all of the 0-3 mos. clothes and get them washed and dig out the infant car seat and get that ready to go. We also made the exciting purchase of a double stroller last week so I will be able to take both boys on a walk!
I will be the mom of 2 boys in approximately 6 weeks. Holy cow.
