39 Weeks and Counting

Still no baby! : )  Today is exactly a week before my due date.  It doesn't look like we are going to get the Leap Year baby we were hoping for, but that is okay.  Whenever he wants to come out, I think we are ready!  Operation Baby Gates is officialy complete.  Mike was here yesterday to do that and cut a hole in our laundry room door for the cats to be able to get to their litter box so we can keep the door shut.  We can now officially start trying to get Harry to sleep in his new big boy bed maybe this weekend.  I'm trying to be optimistic, maybe it won't go as horribly as I think it will!  The infant car seat bases are installed, the laundry is done for the most part, and I even started packing our bag for the hospital this morning!

At our appointment last week, we had an ultrasound.  At the previous week's appointment, the doctor informed us that I was measuring 3 weeks behind so they wanted to check on the kiddo and estimate his weight.  We were a little concerned, but I tried to keep good thoughts about the whole thing.  It turns out, there was nothing to worry about.  He was measuring in the 36th week instead of the 38th week, but his measurements were all consistent which is a good thing.  He was estimated to be 6 pounds 7 ounces, but the doctor said that could be off 10%; either way.  He was so active during the ultrasound!  He must not have enjoyed being poked and prodded because he was kicking and flopping around like crazy.  I had never seen an ultrasound of a baby that big, so it was kind of hard to tell what was what.  I did find out that I was wrong about how he was laying.  I thought it was his bottom that was pressing into my ribs and causing all kinds of discomfort, but it is most likely knees or feet!  His bottom was on the opposite side.  He does have very chubby cheeks and overall looked like a million bucks!  Now we are just waiting to see him in person!

The Big Brother in Waiting!

Now onto my other baby!  I am happy to report that the separation anxiety seems to be getting better.  He did throw a fit yesterday when I dropped him off, but it had been a week or so since he had done that.  He also has chilled out when we take him to the toddler room at church, but I think that might have something to do with the slide that he is in love with there!  There is one thing he has been doing that is driving me nuts...he keeps scooting his chair away from the table and putting his feet on it!  I realize that he isn't even two yet and doesn't completely know right from wrong, but I want him to have good manners!  So that has been our latest battle.  I guess I will take that over other naughty things he could be doing.  I have been feeling a little on edge lately (for obvious reasons), so I am trying not to overreact to things that he does.  I am trying to just enjoy our last few days of it just being the 3 of us since all of our lives are going to turn upside down very soon!

Check out the bad manners!!

Oh, Mom!  You are so silly for thinking you can keep my feet off the table!!

The funniest thing that Harry has done so far this week was last night when he got home and saw the cat hole in the door.  He tried to stick his head through it, then when that didn't work he spun around and tried to back his way through it!  You had to be there, this story doesn't do it justice!  If only I had my camera ready!

This is a photo from a few weeks ago...our first meal together at our new table!  This is the same night in January when the tornado sirens were going off...only in Indiana!

Call Us Crazy

Times are changing around our house, and I'm not even talking about the impending arrival of a newborn.  Yesterday, Travis resigned from his job and started with a new financial company.  It was a move he had been contemplating (or should I say obsessing over/driving himself crazy over) for a while, and after countless conversations, thought, and prayers he decided to go for it.  Not knowing a whole lot about his business world, I personally think the new company will be a lot better fit for him.  He has always tried swing for the fences (hence, he is the homerun champ on Wii Sports) and this place will allow him to do that.  His old company was a great landing place for him for a while and I know he met a lot of great advisors that he really respects and learned a lot from during his time there.  The only negative thing about this opportunity coming now is the timing since the little guy could be here any day!  He will have to work lots of extra hours to try to get his new business up and running, but he still says he will keep his promise of taking a week off when I have the baby.  We'll see about that!  We are excited to see where this new chapter in his career will take us (it at least got us a trip to Boca Raton this summer!) and I am so proud of him for landing an awesome opportunity!

Since I last posted, we have weathered Harry's first stomach flu!  He was such a trooper he didn't even feel the need to notify us that he had vomited all over his crib and the floor, and instead decided to just fall asleep in it and deal with it later.  Thank goodness Travis was still awake and smelled the awfulness coming from his room.  We got him up, cleaned him and his room up and the second I put him back in his crib, he threw up all over it again.  That earned him a free pass out of daycare for a few days and a day home with mom!  Considering he's 21 months old and I had yet to use a sick day to take care of him, I was more than happy to do so!

That same week, we also got all new living room furniture and a kitchen table!  I'm telling you, when I nest, I go all out!  At least I didn't figure out a way to get a new room added on to our house this time!  After taking a few hours to get it arranged just right, we absolutely love it!  My favorite part may be the kitchen table!  It is so fun being able to sit together for all of our meals!  We used to use the bar and wheel Harry's highchair up to it.  Now we get to look at each other and have real conversations!  Harry is also really into playing with his Backyardigans figurine and he loves to crawl up on one of the chairs and play with them on the table.  We have recently had some battles over him crawling on top of the table, but all in all it was a great purchase!  I just hope we don't spend this much money with each additional kid!!
