We are finally in the midst of some real winter weather here! It has been FREEZING, actually a lot colder than freezing! The morning temps have been in the minuses, and on my drive to work yesterday, my gauge registered a balmy 8 degrees. Not fun, but it is making me really excited for our trip to Florida in a few months! We also got about 7 inches of snow on Tuesday just in time for my drive home. It was a very interesting trip, but luckily I made it home just fine and I was very glad I didn't have Harry with me. He was safe and sound at home with Daddy watching all of the pretty snow fall.
One thing that has made our hearts warm this week is our Colts victory in the Super Bowl!! We had all of our buddies over (Dad, George, Audra, Aiden, Chris, Scottie, Julia, Nate, Krista, Esther, Brooke, and Bryce) to watch the game and have a small feast. We had a lot of fun and to top it all of our team finally won the big game. Except for Scottie (a HUGE Bears fan) I think everyone else was happy with the outcome.
Harry is starting to mimic us a lot when we talk to him. It is really funny! I even got him to squeak out a "mama" the other day! Last night I was standing up and Harry crawled over to me, pulled up on my legs, looked up at me and said "Mommy!" as plain as day! Travis was even there to witness it so I'm not totally crazy. It, of course, completely melted my heart! He talks back and forth with us a lot, but the only decipherable words are dada, mama, hi, and baby. I usually give him a lotion bottle to hold when I am changing his diapers and he has a top-secret baby conversation with the bottle. It usually goes something like "Uh gah lob a lob a lob" so it must be something only he and the bottle can understand!!

Showing off his "Milk Built This Body T-shirt"
You're darn right it did!
We reached another growing up milestone this week. I am no longer nursing Harry. My milk production had sharply decreased for some reason the past few weeks. I judged a dance contest on January 20th so I was away from home for about 12 hours, and I can remember I was about to burst by the time I got home. I'm not sure what could have happened in the last few weeks, but I hadn't been feeling full and I had even stopped pumping at work. Monday I was feeding him before he went down for a nap and he clamped down on me like a vice grip. It was soooo painful! He had bitten me before, mainly when he was tired, but never like this. I had always thought I would know when it was time to quit, and I think that was my sign! I thought we would be able to hang on until he was a year, but it just wasn't worth the frustration for either of us. I'll have to admit, I am a little sad and disappointed about it. I don't like not meeting my goals! This whole experience was a great surprise to me. I entered into motherhood with very litlle child care experience, so I had no idea what to expect. I really only decided to breast feed because intellectually I knew it was best for the baby, not because I felt drawn to do it. I decided to give it an honest attempt, and if it didn't work out I didn't wan't to beat myself up over it. Then when things were going well and it was time for me to go back to work, I bought a pump to take to work with me...something I wasn't planning on doing! Then I thought, I could probably do this until he is 6 months! Six months came and went, and we kept on with no definite end in sight. The most pleasant thing about all of this was that it just wasn't a big deal like I thought it would be. I know a lot of people are uncomfortable about breastfeeding and I have even heard some describe it as "gross". It was the exact opposite of that to me, it was just natural. Like that was how it was supposed to be. I loved knowing that for the first 18 months of his life both inside and outside, I alone was his main source of nourishment. It was a really cool experience and I feel really blessed that it went as well as it did. Now I can look forward to having my body all to myself again, that is until we are ready for #2!!

Loving Nap Time!
Harry has been sleeping tremendously well this past week, even making it all the way through the night at times!! Yay! He is even napping twice daily pretty routinely either in the car or in his crib if we are at home. I love it! He even goes down very easily with very little crying. Just as the doctor predicted last week, he has another tooth popping through! It is on his top right just next to the front tooth. So that makes 4 on top, 2 on bottom. He is developing quite the toothy grin!! He is also the proud recipient of a freshly painted bedroom! Travis finally got fed up with our monochromatic paint scheme in our house and decided to paint his room Saturday night. It is about the same green that his old room was. He then just as quickly decided that we should hire someone to do the rest of the rooms! Ha! He had momentarily forgotton how much he hates to paint!!
New Room
Today's adventure is a big one. Travis is leaving work a few hours early today to help me take Oscar, Callie, and Roxy to the vet. That should be a wild 45 minute car ride to the office! Please pray for us!!
