Who Needs sleep??

Not Me!!

Harry's first Thanksgiving has come and gone...I can't believe it! I had to work until 4, so Travis and Harry went to Granny's first. Then I got a special visit at work from the two turkeys in person! It was really special since they can't come by and see me much anymore since we moved. Then we went to Mom and Dad's after I got off work and had dinner. George and Audra and Aiden came over too and both of my Grandmas were also there. We had a great dinner and a good time. We had so much to be thankful for this year...our son, a nephew, a new home, good jobs, great family, and let's not forget our wonderful pets! Harry's dinner was especially exciting...he got to eat turkey just like the rest of us! Well, not just like the rest of us as it was nicely pureed and mixed with sweet potatoes by the fine folks at Gerber, but he is now a meat-eater! Personally, I thought it was really disgusting but it went over just fine with him. Last night we had chicken with apples and he liked that too. I hope this non-pickiness lasts into toddlerhood!

Although I had to work Thursday, I had Friday and the weekend off. We had such a great time together. It had been a long while since we had been able to not have any plans over the weekend and just do what we wanted! I finally got to see one of Harry's swim classes, we braved the crowds and did some shopping, put up Christmas decorations, and did some cleaning and organizing around the house. Dad came over on Saturday and helped Travis hang up Harry's TV and valances. Travis also finally caved and let us get the Pottery Barn Dream Rocker for Harry's room that I have been wanting! So now his room is finally how I want it! It is perfect. I will post a picture after we receive the slipcover for the rocker!

This phone makes a great chew toy!

About the title for this post...one of Harry's top front teeth is finally through and the other one is right behind it. These have really been rough on the poor little guy and not much sleep has been had around our house lately! Last night, he went to bed around 9:30, was up about 1am, back up at 2:50am, stayed up for an hour, got passed off to Daddy so Mommy could get an hour of sleep before she got up at 5am and was up again at 6am as Mommy was leaving for work. I think he and Travis got a few hours of sleep after I left. Last night was probably the worst we have had for a while, but he has not slept well with this round of teething at all. I feel so sorry for him. He seems fine during the day, but the nights are so hard for all of us! Thank goodness he took a nap with me when I got home from work! Hopefully he will let me get a picture of it soon!

I saved the best news for last...I think I can now say that Harry is crawling! Last night I think something finally clicked with him. He kind of shuffles and is really slow, but he is definitely moving all four limbs and getting somewhere. We will also have to lower his crib yet again because he can almost pull himself up to a standing position. Do they really have to grow up this fast??

Mom and Dad have no chance!!

So Much to Say!

We have had such a crazy week so we have lots of news to share! First of all, we would like to announce the arrival of our new nephew and Harry's cousin, Aiden George! He was born at 6:20pm on Tuesday 11/14. He weighed 8lbs 10 oz and was 22 inches long--but still looks really tiny! He is so cute! George thinks he is the spitting image of Audra when she was a baby and Audra thinks he looks like her dad. Either way, we are excited that he is here and elated that he is healthy!

New Kid On The Block!

All Better!

No Fair! What's Mommy doing?

That is Harry upset that I'm holding the baby! Hopefully he won't stay jealous for long!

Now onto some news about Harry. It appears that we have a little daredevil on our hands! He somehow managed to fall out of his crib Monday night and scared Travis and I half to death! He was perfectly fine and stopped crying as soon as I picked him up. I guess he really wasn't ready to go to bed! We still aren't sure how he did it. I hadn't seen him pull up on anything until later in the week, but even if that's the case he would have had to pull up on the railing pretty high. Regardless, he did it so his crib matress was lowered that very night. No other base jumping attempts have been made to my knowledge. We felt like such losers as parents. We had been talking about lowering the matress since he could get up on all fours but just hadn't done it yet. I guess this will just have to be a lesson to us...kids are capable of much more than you think!

Speaking of pulling up on things, Harry decided to show me after the whole crib fiasco that he is in fact trying to pull up on things. He mostly tries to do it on his tent door. I have seen him almost getting to a standing postion (carefully monitored of course!!). I also spied him sitting up from a laying position. I saw him do this on Friday and it was like he was a changed baby overnight! He turned seven months old that day so he started the second half of his first year with a bang!! He was babbling almost the whole day instead of just occasionally and even that sounded different to me. He was making sounds other than da-da and changing the pitch of his voice. Coupled with him pulling up on things and getting to a sitting position unassisted, I was like, who is this kid!!?? It is kind of hard seeing all of these changes in him because it is going by so fast, but at the same time I am really happy that he is developing so well. He's probably on the track to be a genius, right??

Harry started going to his new daycare this week after Jamie decided to go off and get a job on us (sniff, sniff!). Her name is Katrina and she runs it out of her home. She seems really nice and I think it will work out really well. He went on Monday and Thursday and he got a good report both days. I think Thursday was a little overwhelming for him...all of the kids she watched were there and some of them had never seen him before. They were really excited and all up in his face all day, so he was really tired by the time he got home even though he took a 1 1/2 hour nap that day. Why does he never do that for me?? Anyway, all the kids that go there seem really sweet and cute. I think he will have a blast there once he's a little older and can play more with them.

Solid food eating is still going really well and he has built up quite a selection of food he can eat. So far he eats squash, sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, applesauce, peaches, bananas, sweet potatoes with corn, carrots, and oatmeal. He eats all of them pretty well but the favorite is probably still the bananas. He is so cute at meal time...he usually sits there like a little bird with his mouth open for the next bite!

One last cute story about Harry...as I said before he has become quite the talker, but the only thing he says on a regular basis is da-da. I have been trying to associate that with Travis so he can figure out that da-da actually means something. When he says it I usually say, Yeah, Dada's at work or something to that effect. The other day he looked at me and said Da-da! I replied No, I'm Mama...Dada's at work. He paused for a moment like he was processing what I was saying and then belted out a big DA-DA with a huge grin on his face. Trying to reason with this kid will probably be a losing battle for the rest of my life! That's okay...as long as he stays so cute he can call me whatever he wants!

Part Monkey, All Baby!

Silly Kid!!

Travis and I have long suspected that Harry is part monkey....we now have confirmation of that!! On Sunday, it was time for Harry to try a new baby food. Since he had only tried one fruit, we decided we should add another and Travis chose bananas. It usually takes him about a day or so to get used to a new food and he always makes a face when trying something new. Not this time!! He LOVED them! He had already eaten half of a container of both peas and squash so I poured out just a little bit of the bananas because I figured he was probably getting full. He ended up eating the whole container!! We thought that was so funny! Of course, he spit up a little from eating so much so we are now carefully rationing out the bananas.

Last night he was cracking us up again! I noticed him staring at his hand (which I have never seen him do) and he had his palm facing him and he was opening and closing it like he was waving at himself. He just kept staring at it...he was probably thinking this is so cool! We were trying to teach him that was how you wave but I don't know if it stuck.

Saturday, he and Travis had their first baby swimming class at the YMCA. I had to work so I missed it all, but they had a really good time. He was the second youngest baby there. I was sad that I missed it, but I think it will be good for him and Travis to have something special to do together. I'm not so sure I'm ready to get in a bathing suit around a bunch of people either, so if Daddy wants to take him, that's fine! I'll just watch when I can!

Here are some photos from his "Halloween Costume" from last week. I think he looked really cute even though they are just pj's!
