Happy Halloween!

Yay! It's my first Halloween!

For Harry's first Halloween, he has an awesome costume...he is a baby! That was his Uncle George's idea! I did get him some Halloween pj's to wear tonight when we pass out candy. I hope he gets a big kick out of the kids coming to our house. No candy for him though...not for another few years at least!

Harry had his 6 month check-up today and the doctor gave him an A+! Here are his new stats:
  • Weight 18 lbs 14 oz (75th percentile)
  • Length 27 1/2 inches (90th percentile)
  • Head 44 3/4 cm (75th percentile)

His weight had been running in the 90th percentile as well, but she wasn't concerned that it had dropped. She said he was probably just using more calories. She also said that he could start eating meats next month...that means he can have baby food turkey for Thanksgiving!! His upper gums looked swollen to her and she thought he would be getting some top teeth really soon. Overall, he is really healthy and we are very happy about that. He also got two shots and he didn't even cry for the first one and a little on the second one. He was a tough little fella! We have to go back next month for a flu shot and another dose of a new oral vaccine for rotavirus.

Last night we tried sweet potatoes and they went over really well! He didn't even act like he could tell it was different. Eating is going a lot better...I think he is starting to enjoy it a lot more. It is hard waiting the three days to start a new food! It is my goal for him not to be a picky eater so I want him to try a lot of different things.

Have a Happy Halloween everyone!!

More Squash and Peas, Please!

Squash goatee!!

Little buddy has officially entered the exciting world of baby food veggies! So far he has tasted squash and sweet peas. He tolerates them both, but I haven't gotten the feeling that he LOVES to eat either of them. He is still more interested in the highchair itself and watching the dogs and cats run around. Last night was the third night for the peas, so we get to try something else tonight. I haven't decided whether that will be sweet potatoes or a fruit. We'll see. That is a perfect example of exactly how much our lives have changed recently...last year the decision of a Friday night would be which club are we going to, not which new baby food we would be rolling out. Ha! I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Hmmm, I'm extra messy...is Daddy feeding me??

The only other exciting development this week was the purchase of a new baby tent. It is pretty cool and I think Harry really likes it! I'm going to have to stop buying toys soon since Christmas will be here soon. We won't have anything left to buy! It is hard to stop though when you can see how happy the new stuff makes him!

Whoo hoo!

Crawling update: Still not crawling. However, he readily gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth. Since I am aware that every week I say he is about ready to crawl, I vow not to mention it again until he has, in fact, started crawling!

I promise I will do it someday!!

This week has been so cold, crummy and rainy. It seems like we have missed out on most of our nice fall weather. We managed to get out today and eat lunch with George and Audra (still no baby!!) today, but not much else got done. The only fitting thing to do on these days is to take a nice, long nap!

Super at Six Months!

Our little stinker is half a year old!

Harry is growing up so fast...has anyone been keeping track of how many times I have said that on his blog?? Six months already, whew! To celebrate, we went out to eat at Cheeseburger in Paradise with Chris, Brooke, and one of her co-workers. Since Harry couldn't partake in eating any burgers, we stopped at Target to pick out a new toy for him. It is a soccer goal, and he loves it!!

We haven't been up to much else this week, Travis and I both had to work a little extra this week so we haven't had much time for fun stuff. We did get to go out to lunch with Jen, Noah, and Andrew today. That was fun because we hadn't seen them in a long time! Then it was on to Target to do some shopping for Aunt Audra's shower tomorrow. Baby Aiden will be here in no time!

Here are a few more pics of our rapidly growing boy!

Solid Food, A Trip to Tennessee, and My First Cold

Mmmmmm, Cereal!!

As you have probably already figured out, we have started to give Harry rice cereal at night before bedtime for about a week and a half! He has done really well with it, he is even opening his mouth for the spoon! So cute...last night he whined inbetween bites and I couldn't tell if it was because he wanted me to go faster or if he was tired or too hungry or what. I'm thinking that I may need to start giving it to him twice a day to get him more used to eating food. These are pictures from the first time we gave it to him...he didn't care for the spoon too much, but I think he likes the cereal. Now I only get that look with the first bite!

Yuck!!

What is going on here??

We went to Gatlinburg last weekend with the Webb's, Woods', Anderson's, and Russell's. We had a lot of fun and Harry was so, so good! We only had to stop once for him on the trips down and back. Our first full day there he hardly slept at all and didn't even act cranky! I think he was afraid he was going to miss something. I think he had a lot of fun spending time with so many people! That and with every person over 50 that we encountered had to stop and talk to him! He was really eating up all of the attention! He even got to talk to Santa at the Christmas store. I realized it was his first time seeing anything Christmas and I started to get really excited about his first Christmas coming up soon! I can't believe it is coming up so fast!! We also had a surprise birthday party for Poppy! You will notice there are no photos from our trip...I forgot our camera! : ( With our house still a bit of a mess and I think we were still a little bit traumatized from all of the packing and unpacking we have done lately there were several things we forgot!

Hooray for Tennessee!!

He is getting so much better at sitting up on his own! He is also quite mobile considering he can't crawl yet. It seems like everytime I turn my back on him he is facing a different direction or he is into something different. I was laughing at him last night, he was on his belly trying to reach for things and he kept falling over in slow motion. I think he likes putting on a show for me.

Whoa!!

Watch out! I'm gonna be crawling soon!!

Harry caught his first little cold this week. Sniff sniff. He has had a really runny nose, a little cough, and he voice has been hoarse. I think he is getting better though, the nasal discharge production has been way down this morning! Speaking of his voice, his babbling has changed a little. He has been throwing in some Mas, Das, and Nas. Could a Mama or Dada be next???
