Growing Up

Harry has had a busy week so far! My birthday was Monday and he celebrated with me all day! We went out to lunch with Grandma, Grandpa, and Grandma Helen and then later out to dinner with Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa. He was really good the whole time! On Tuesday, I decided that it was time to take out the extra head rest in his car seat and to graduate to Stage 1 diapers. We also decided to give him a bottle of formula before bed. He has had one the past 2 nights. The first night I couldn't really tell any difference, but last night was great! He didn't wake up until about 5am and then after we went back to bed, he didn't wake up until 9:30! I was shocked! He is still wary of the bottles, I think it is a mix of the bottle itself and him not understanding that people other than Mommy can feed him. It may sound crazy, but all of these changes made me kind of sad! He's already changing and getting bigger. While I was pregnant, I thought that I would be ready to kiss the newborn and breast feeding days goodbye when the time came, but I'm realizing now that it won't be that easy.

We have a really exciting weekend and week coming up! His Nana and Poppy will be here for the race this weekend and we might even go see the Memorial Day Parade on Monday since it goes by our house. We are then going to go to Tennessee next Wednesday for a long weekend to spend some more time with Nana and Poppy...Harry's first road trip! And a much needed mini-vacation for Mommy and Daddy.

Happy 1 Month Birthday, Harry!!

Well, our little guy is one month old today...I can't believe it! Time has really flown by! I have been trying to think today if anything had changed with him since he was born. I think it is hard for me to tell since I spend so much time with him. Everyone says he is getting bigger. I guess he is filling out a little more and his 0-3 month outfits don't seem as big. Also, I was noticing that his newborn diapers look like they were getting a little small. You always hear about how fast your kids grow up, now I'm realizing that it is really true!! He has now officially taken 3 naps in his swing (he is doing that right now!) and he didn't care much for it before. We are also doing better with our leakage issue...sometimes he goes a whole night or day without an outfit change! Mama loves those days! He is also able to control his head a little better. If he is laying on your chest, he really tries to lift his head up. As you can see from the photo, I caught him in a smile today, but I'm still not convinced that they aren't just accidents. He looks so cute though, I can't wait until I know he's smiling and laughing at us for real!

We had a great Mother's Day! Travis got up and made us breakfast (french toast, eggs, and bacon) and I received a gift certificate for Philipe's Spa! I will have to use it before I have to go back to work! We then made the rounds to our grandmas' houses where Harry got to meet some more of my huge extended family! Besides the weather being crummy, we had a fun day!

In some other exciting news, my best friend Karen had her little girl, Morley Nicole, on Monday! That means that Harry and Morley are exactly 4 weeks apart! She is so tiny, only 5 lbs 14oz! Harry looks like a chunk compared to her! Both mom and baby are doing well and we are looking forward to hanging out together a lot while we are both off work.

Well, the nap in the swing is officially over so I better cut this short...I knew 2 naps in one day was a little too much to ask for! I took a picture of his nap earlier today, he is too cute for words!!

A Week of Firsts

We had a great last week, and it was full of firsts for Baby Harry! Tuesday was election day and he went with us in the morning to vote. He was a big hit with the poll workers! We then went out to breakfast and Harry and I were off to the doctor. Dr. Sowers said he was doing great, the jaundice was a lot better, and he had gained a good amount of weight (he was 8 lbs 3 oz, up from 7 lbs 10 oz at birth). Tuesday was also Grandma Shirley's birthday and we took her out to eat at Applebee's. He was such a good boy and slept the whole time. Wednesday, my good friend Jen and her 8 month old twins came over from Fishers to visit. I would say it was Harry's first play date, but he mainly slept and watched! Andrew and Noah are getting so big and cute! We had a great time with them!

Wednesday night was also a big first...Harry's first tub bath! His cord had finally fallen off so we decided to go for it! As you can see from the pictures, it wasn't a very popular decision!!

Come on, Daddy!!

All Done!

Thursday was an absolutely great day! Travis came home from work early since he had been really busy at work, and we went shopping in Muncie at Target and Kohl's and went looking at new cars since my Accord is seriously lacking in space since we added in the car seat and stroller. It was such a nice day and we really had fun together. Friday we went to visit Aunt Nancy and Uncle Bill with Mom and Grandma Helen and went out to lunch. To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Travis and I took the little guy to Los Amigos. After having so many meals there during my pregnancy, it was really fun to take him there. Hopefully someday he'll like eating there as much as Travis and I do! Saturday was yet another big day...Harry's first wedding! We made the trip down to Greensburg for Nate and Krista's wedding. This was also the first time that Uncle Chris had been able to see him! He was really good throughout the ceremony and he even seemed to like the loud music at the reception. He especially liked hearing Uncle Chris's drum solo on "Wipeout"...if only Uncle Rob could have seen him playing The Ventures finest!!

And before anyone asks, no the Bud Lights are not mine! Sunday was another great day. Brooke came over in the morning to visit. It was good to visit with her, we hadn't seen her since the fall! We then went to a nursery for some flowers, to Wal Mart (it is becoming a Sunday ritual!) and then Chris and his little brother Nick came over to visit and for a cookout. We were all worn out from such a busy week, but it was really nice to get out and have a somewhat normal life!!
